Calling fashion innovators: LWARB co-sponsors the London Innovation Challenge

The London Innovation Challenge for Circular Fashion is now open. The London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB) is proud to support the Challenge and, along with our co-sponsors, we’re inviting innovators to submit their ideas to transform London’s fashion industry and make it more sustainable.

The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, accounting for 10% of global carbon emissions. Circular fashion incorporates circular economy principles into the way clothes are designed, the materials they derive from, how they are made and then used.

London now has a great opportunity to become world leading in circular fashion. As a recognised global capital of fashion, London can lead the way on developing new approaches to fashion, to reduce it’s environmental impact and build upon the economic opportunity of circular fashion, recently valued at over £1billion in London alone.

Along with Climate-KIC  City Challenges co-sponsors: London Legacy Development Corporation, University of the Arts London, UK Fashion and Textiles Association, and the Mayor of London, LWARB is looking to invest in two innovative ideas that have the potential to transform London’s fashion industry and make it more sustainable through the development of new fashion technologies.

Who can enter?: The City Challenge invites London’s big thinkers, start-ups, SMEs and researchers to come up with a solution to reduce the fashion industry’s impact and make it more sustainable and circular.

Prize: Two winners, €10,000 each and the chance to deploy their solutions.

Deadline for applications: 20th November 2017
